Celebrating the bond between people and animals is at the heart of what I do.
From realistically imagining creatures that don't even exist to exploring a past life full of adventures with animal companions to memorialising a beloved family pet, I strive to make you feel something when you look at my creature art.
Sometimes admiration, sometimes awe, sometimes a little bit scared... Animals occupy all of these things in our minds at different times and I love exploring that connection.

How does it work?
Step #1: Place Your Character Painting Order
Go to the the Custom Character Painting page (or just scroll down!) and then select the size and style of painting you'd like and pay.
Your order is submitted and I will get in touch with you soon to get photo references and discuss the painting!
Step #2: Give Feedback on the Painting Process
Once we discuss what you would like for the painting, then I will get started on a sketch for you to review. I will wait to work on the piece again until I receive your feedback- so be sure to reply as soon as you can in order to get the art done faster!
Step #3: Wait for your Special Character's Portrait Delivery!
Once you have sent your final approval of the painting, then the art will be on the way to you!

Process Overview and Notes
- All commissions are a physical product, whether done in digital and traditional mediums. Commissioner will receive the size artwork that was requested at the time of purchase on paper or canvas.
- For traditional orders, client will be contacted to discuss options. Primary options available: watercolour, gouache, ink, coloured pencil or mixed medium of the available options.
- Please go through all the different options in order to see the prices and what's available. If you have any questions or would like to email in order to discuss a commission before you commit, please email me: char.reed@gmail.com
- I specialise in animal and creature art. I do not do portraits of people unless they are fantasy characters and/or a high degree of accuracy to life is not required. Please keep this in mind when commissioning me!

How long does a portrait take to complete?
Depending on the complexity of the portrait, how many characters will be included, the medium used and the response time between approval for the sketch and final stages will determine how long a portrait will take. Please allow 2-4 weeks for completion. Longer times than previously discussed will be communicated to you as soon as possible. Rush orders can be requested for an additional fee.
Do I need perfect reference photos in the exact pose and lighting the painting needs?
No, that's part of what sets my studio apart from the rest!
Perfect reference photos are not needed at all. As long as you have a written description of the character, photos of celebrities that are similar in appearance/vibe or screenshots of in-game characters, I can use just about any material to create a portrait- even blurry low rez screenshots!
My specialty is creature art, so 30+ years of experience studying animals allows me to get the base shapes of any breed or species- real or imaginary- you just need to supply the specific description of your character. People are not a problem either- as long as they don't need to be a photo-real exact copy of someone. If there are markings, brandings, tattoos, jewellery or other signature items to be included on your character, be sure to include those in your notes also.

What payment methods are accepted?
Many payment methods are accepted. You can use your credit or debit card, but also Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Paypal, Paypal Credit and Cash App are available. As well, if you'd like to break up payment into interest-free payments, you can pay with Afterpay*. Klarna* can break payment up into monthly installments.
